Moylan to Host I-CASH Event at Brookdale

DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, will host an I-CASH event on Tuesday, August 29th, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Brookdale Senior Living Facility located at 800 S. River Road in Des Plaines.

“The state treasurer’s office currently holds over $2 billion in unclaimed properties waiting to be claimed by its rightful owners,” Moylan said. “I encourage all residents to come join us so we can check to see if the state owes them any money.”

Moylan will be joined by representatives from State Treasurer Michael Frerichs’ office to help residents file claims with the I-CASH program. I-CASH is the State Treasurer’s unclaimed property program that was set up to protect consumers in Illinois and aims to distribute unclaimed funds back to their rightful owners. The State Treasurer is currently holding $2.5 billion in unclaimed funds, and more than 400,000 of those properties are worth more than $1,000. Over the past two years, the Illinois treasurer’s office has paid out over $220 Million in unclaimed properties through the I-CASH program. Property or funds will be returned at no cost with the proper identification. Back in April, Moylan hosted a similar event at the Des Plaines Library and found thousands of dollars for Des Plaines residents.

“I always love doing these events because it gives us the opportunity to give money back to residents,” Moylan said. “There is a lot of money sitting there that could help some vulnerable residents who might be struggling to make ends meet.”
