New Committee Assignments

DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, was recently assigned to several legislative committees and is continuing his effort to stand up for the priorities of his district when going to Springfield this legislative session.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on committees that are so important to the district,” Moylan said. “Regardless of the specific committee, my priorities remain creating good paying jobs, protecting local school funding, and providing tax relief to the hard working middle class families of my district.”

Moylan was selected to serve as Vice-Chairperson on the Intermodal Infrastructure committee. Intermodal infrastructure is important to the 55th District because the district is home to the Elk Grove Village Business Park and many rail lines and interstates. The District also borders O’Hare International Airport, and intermodal infrastructure is vital to the overall economic health of the district.

Moylan was selected as a member on the Tollway Oversight Committee. The 55th District contains approximately 15 miles of two tollways, and many residents of the district rely on the tollways for safe travel to and from work. Moylan was also selected to serve on the Transportation Regulation for Roads and Bridges, Transportation for Vehicles and Safety, Veterans’ Affairs, Youth and Young Adults, and Cities and Villages committees.

As a member of the Cities and Villages committees, Moylan will be in a position to reduce unfunded mandates and protect local cities from the red tape handed down from Springfield.

“I am eager to begin my work on these committees,” said Moylan. “There are many major agenda items the state must address this session and it is of the utmost importance to make sure our local communities have their voices heard.”
